No Sadness…..just sound!

After school today I ventured out to Future Shop to look at all the cool techno stuff. I might as well have my paycheque deposited to Future Shop since I purchase a lot of stuff from them. My Bluetooth USB transmitter finally arrived into the warehouse. It allows the user to connect any Bluetooth device to their computer. I was specifically wanting to connect my hands free headset for my cellphone to my computer at school. Once set up, which only took about 10 minutes, I was able to use my wireless headset to record a short lesson on my Smartboard. Take a listen and tell me if it is clear. No more cords for me to trip over when I am teaching my Pre-Cal class, even though the students may miss me falling on my face. Cheers! One of the best things about taking this course is that it has given me the necessary knowledge about Web 2.0 tools, but more importantly it has allowed me to incorporate technology into my class that will benefit my students. What more can a teacher ask for.

  1. Excellent sound quality. It picked up your writing on the board and your movements. I’m wondering how much classroom noise it’s going to pick up or whether the mic will be far enough away from the students. These new devices are very cool.

  2. It is a tiny earpiece that fits in my ear with a small mic on it. It hopefully will not pick up to much extra noise from the class.

  3. Hi, I’m coming to your blog late in the day, and a day late. With a shift worker in the adjacent room, I won’t be listening until tomorrow. Look forward to it!

  4. Loud and clear Brian.
I use a similar device on my Mac Mini one of five computers in the house. The Mini is a great unit but I got the cheapest one available at the time and it didn’t have Bluetooth built in. I could have retrofitted but it was easier to purchase a little unit as you describe so that I can use a MAC wireless keyboard and mouse.
I also have a bluetooth headset although my noggin is so big it is not that comfortable. Still I use it, especially when I am in teleconference meetings through Skype. I can wander over the house, do the dishes, take out the garbage, with out the tether cords.

  5. Bolts – that’s excellent quality. I find Blue Tooth technology quite superior. I have a wireless slate (Blue Tooth Technology) for my SmartBoard. I don’t use it a whole bunch but it’s especially useful for those who like to move around the room. It very receptive. By the way, I could even hear you chewing your chips.

  6. That is really weird since I was not eating chips….lol

  7. No problem hearing or seeing the video. Excellent job. I can see that you are no novice to the technology sector. Keep up the good work.

  8. Late to this party but another great use of technology. There are a few old school math teachers at our school you could probably inservice about your experiences.

  9. Hey….there is no school like old school…lol
